To Drive in Korea

Sis and I will be visiting Korea in July. I have made plans for us to visit Jeju Island before heading to Seoul.

While doing research on our Jeju Trip, I came to know that there are 3 different ways of travelling around within Jeju.

1. Public Transport

There are bus services that you may hopped onto and travel around Jeju. However, I was told that the bus service is not very reliable. You may need to, often, check on the frequency prior to planning your itinerary. This will ensure optimising of time spent!

Not recommended.

2. Hire a Taxi with Driver

Good thing about hiring a taxi with a driver is that you can enjoy the journey at the back seat. Not having to worry about left-hand drive. The driver may be able to give good recommendation and help in taking photos.

Highly recommended if you are not up to taking the more adventurous route in self-drive.

Recommended for group of 4! It may be more economically sensible to split the cost when there are 4 to share.

3. Self-Drive

You will be able to plan your own itinerary and travel at your own pace!

Do note to drive slowly and carefully while you get used to left-hand drive.

Most importantly, you do need to register for the international driving permit with Automobile Association of Singapore.

The car rental companies require you to produce it for the renting of cars.

The International Driving Permit looks like this. A small grey booklet where is state the vehicles for which the permit is valid in various languages and your personal details.

If you need more information on how to register for an International Driving Permit (online or over counter), do visit the website: http://www.aas.com.sg for more details!
